There’s just no two ways about it. When you see something you like, you just have to have it. Well, unnecessary purchases are all but common, however, when you’re talking about a gadget that, if you can believe this, willaccurately tell you what’s wrong with your skin, we’re all for it!
It would seem that Indiegogo has developed a personal skincare companion called WAY, which doubles up as aportable dermatologist for all your skincare needs. The device comes fitted with a number of sensors that, after being placed on your skin (like your face), analyze and send an evaluation to a mobile app on your smartphone.
It does so by analyzing your skin’s moisture levels vis-a-vis the moisture levels in the environment, after which it will make personalized recommendations about simple things you need to do for your skin. For example, how often you should apply moisturizer. In addition to measuring moisture, the gadget’s biometric sensors can spit out data on the skin’s oil levels and age.
According to Co-founder and CEO, Jason Moon, “We felt it was important to include readouts of the environment, because that’s inextricably tied to the skin’s health. For instance, a moisturizer might be very effective in delivering hydration, but if the air is bone-dry and robbing the skin of its water content, what’s the point? WAY would remind you to reapply or use a barrier cream to lock in moisture.”
The fact that you have to hold the device to your face, as you would any makeup applicator, also means it’s compact enough to fit into your vanity pouch or handbag. With that in mind, we’re sure this is the WAY forward for beauty and skincare.
